Setting the tone for a respectful online teaching and learning community

The School Garden Studio is an online gathering place for educators to connect with subject matter experts and their peers to share ideas, offer advice, and discuss first-hand experiences related to school gardening. This Community is hosted by the Alberta Motor Association (AMA) as part of AMA’s School Garden Studio.

Members of the School Garden Studio are welcome to start discussions relevant to the creation and maintenance of school gardens. When doing so, Community Members should:

  1. Be polite and treat other members as you would in real life: with dignity and respect.
  2. Keep the tone light and friendly.
  3. Respect the privacy of other members who do not wish to share personal information about themselves.
  4. Report inappropriate, abusive, fraudulent, misleading, discriminatory or/and unsafe content. All reports will be kept confidential.

Members of School Garden Studio are not permitted to:

  1. Post irrelevant topics or posts, or divert conversations.
  2. Insult, humiliate, harass, bully, troll, phish for information with malicious intent, post deceptive or fraudulent content, attempt to commit fraud or share personal or private information about another person without their consent.
  3. Post content that isn’t suitable for all audiences. Any inappropriate images will be immediately forwarded to law enforcement.
  4. Post content that’s abusive; threatening; expressing prejudice against any group(s) or individual(s); or promoting hatred, violence, extremism or any unlawful ideological themes.
  5. Use other community members’ images without consent.
  6. Use this site as a recruitment tool for non-School Garden Studio programming and/or organizations.

Some important final points:

  1. Any recommendations provided in this Community should be considered personal opinion and not relied upon as professional or expert advice unless it comes from a designated subject matter expert.
  2. Subject matter experts will be brought in from time to time for certain events or may participate regularly in this Community. While these persons may provide good and usable advisable, their advice and recommendations are their own and are not views or advice provided by the Alberta Motor Association or any of its employees.
  3. Any products of services being offered or recommended in this Community are provided by third party suppliers and AMA is not a party to the purchase of any such products or services.
  4. Any products of services being offered or recommended in this Community are not recommended or endorsed by AMA unless AMA explicitly states otherwise
  5. AMA may at any time and in its sole discretion remove from the Community the promotion or sale of any product or service posted on this Community
