Free Play for Kids is excited to partner with AMA’s School Garden Studio to bring hands-on food literacy education into classrooms across Alberta! Through this partnership, Free Play will provide free, curriculum-aligned recipes that reflect the foods grown in classroom gardens, making it easy for teachers to integrate food education into their lessons. These recipes not only encourage healthy eating habits but also highlight the importance of local, seasonal produce in Alberta.
In addition, Free Play will offer engaging food literacy workshops in Edmonton that bring the garden-to-table experience directly to students. Our interactive classes teach children about nutrition, food security, and the benefits of growing and preparing a healthy meal. Each session includes hands-on activities, from simple meal preparations to learning about the journey of food from seed to plate.
Schools can book these workshops to deepen students’ understanding of food and health, fostering lifelong healthy habits. Our goal is to make food literacy accessible while supporting teachers and students in creating meaningful connections between garden-grown foods and nutritious meals. Together with AMA’s School Garden Studio, Free Play for Kids is helping to cultivate a new generation of food-conscious learners.
