Explaining to a student how a tomato plant grows is one thing. Seeing that student thoughtfully cultivate a thriving indoor tower garden, sampling or sharing a bright red fruit right off a vine they’ve tended to themselves is a lived experience they won’t easily forget.
Launched in 2024, the School Garden Studio equips Alberta’s teachers with the resources and community connections needed to make food literacy education come alive in their classrooms.

With support from the AMA Community Foundation, the School Garden Studio aims to help Alberta’s teachers create meaningful experiential learning opportunities for Alberta’s youth. The studio is a virtual one stop shop that’s free to join and that offers teachers access to tutorials, tools (available to purchase and/or borrow), curriculum guides, lesson plans and more. The online platform also serves as a unique space for teachers to connect with their peers and garden education experts.

We’re Albertans Serving Albertans

Every day the Alberta Motor Association (AMA) works to protect what matters most—and that includes the future of Alberta’s youth. We care about the quality of the air they’ll breathe, the safety of the roads they’ll drive, and the sustainability of the food they’ll one day serve their children.

For nearly nine decades we’ve helped Alberta’s youth gain the skills needed to take them from the sidewalk to the driver’s seat. Now we’re excited to offer this new program which focuses on building the leadership and life skills needed to foster a healthy and sustainable Alberta for the youth of today, tomorrow, and beyond. Find out more about how AMA is working to create a better world for future generations through climate good, food security, childhood safety, and safe communities, by checking out the AMA Community Foundation.
