The Clairmont Community Garden is located just outside Grande Prairie in Clairmont, AB. It was founded in 2020 by Devin Bateman with the goal of growing as much food as possible to give back to the community. Devin’s passion for gardening started with a seed planted when he was just five years old spending time in his grandmother’s gardens. That seed slowly grew over time, eventually blooming decades later after an inspiring conversation with two friends about their gardens. The next day, Devin took a shovel to the ground in his backyard and never looked back.
Over the years, the Clairmont Community Garden has grown into a vibrant operation, fulfilling its mission to give back. Spanning 10,000 square feet in the middle of town, the garden helps address food security by regularly providing fresh produce for the local food bank. And, in partnership with the Clairmont Community School, the garden offers hands-on education for grade one and two students by teaching them about growing, harvesting and transplanting crops.
