Providing support to their community since 1989, the Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge is passionate about alleviating hunger and its root causes. Among the food bank’s many resources and services is the Interfaith Learning Garden, which was established to help people learn to grow their own food, enhance food security, and promote a healthy lifestyle. The space also includes an Indigenous Healing Garden, where traditional plants are grown for food, medicine and ceremony.
Teachers in the Lethbridge area can sign out one of the Interfaith Food Bank’s free, interactive and curriculum-correlated Activity Totes to support in-class food literacy. Each tote includes lesson plans and resources, and covers such topics as composting, recycled gardening, healthy eating, food chains, insects, soil and more. Visit Interfaith Food Bank for more information https://interfaithfoodbank.ca/
Activity Totes can be used on-site at Interfaith Learning Garden, or signed out to be used in your classroom. Contact Interfaith Food Bank at (403) 320-8779 or info@interfaithfoodbank.ca
