Sea to Sky Botanics was founded in Squamish, BC (2015) and now operates out of Edmonton, AB. It is owned and operated by Jonathan Luckhurst — an urban agriculture consultant, indoor farm builder, biophilic designer and artist. With over 9 years of experience, he has worked with commercial and private clients to create aquaponic, hydroponic and soil-based systems that grow anything from micro greens to indoor root crops.
Jonathan received his BSc in Cell Biology-Genetics from the University of British Columbia and was instrumental in the construction of Nutraponics’ demonstration facility — Canada’s largest aquaponics facility to date. He is a graduate of The Aquaponic Farming Course (2015, Denver, Colorado).
Currently, Sea to Sky Botanics is working towards the development of indoor farms that provide an alternative to the traditional hydroponic seatainer farm. These farms are a fraction of the price of hydroponic farms, are lower maintenance, have shallow learning curves and, unlike hydroponic seatainer farms, can grow root crops and large vining fruit crops.
